Read Volume III, Chs 1&2
Choose a project from Volume III activities (see below)
Go to this website, and choose an article on ANY topic in Texas History to write 1 paragraph on to share with the class next week. https://tshaonline.org/handbook
Choices for the final project of Fall Semester (details found under Vol III activities):
1) Build a model of a mission (build the model and teach the class about the parts of a mission and reasons/purpose for those areas)
2) Learn about the San Antonio Missions - teach the class about the San Antonio missions. What are they? why are they in the San Antonio area? What historical significance do these (one in particular) have? Answer these and other questions about the missions of San Antonio.
3) Doing more: Water, learn about the importance of water to natives and missions, teach the class about this resource and how the people used it.
4) Doing More: Write a journal: You will have to research life on a mission and write a journal as if you are a Spanish official reporting back on the life of a Mission in early Texas. Use your imagination and transport us back to the Spanish Mission.
5) Thinking more: True Belief; write a paper explaining what you think about the Spanish Missions and what they attempted to do with the Natives. Were they successful? Were their methods ethical? What do you think? Don't forget a visual aid to present as well.
6) Thinking More: Why Missions? Answer the questions on the project description on the disk... Write a paper and include a visual aid (maybe a map of where missions were?)
